Hi, I’m Rachel Burwell.
I'm Rachel Burwell, known as the Savvy Sage. My passion is helping fellow seekers reconnect with their inner wisdom and create lives of authentic purpose and meaning.
My journey began with a natural curiosity about human nature and why we tell ourselves the stories we do. As I developed my own intuitive gifts, I discovered I had a talent for helping others see themselves from new perspectives and illuminate what they couldn't see on their own.
My Background & Approach
My formal education in psychology, counseling, and human development laid a solid foundation for understanding how people navigate life's challenges. But my journey didn't stop there. For over 30 years, I've worked professionally as a counselor while also exploring alternative healing modalities including:
Neuro-linguistic Programming
Eriksonian hypnosis
Energy healing techniques
Reiki
Meditation and mindfulness practices
Martial arts (I've studied Tai Chi and other practices for over 20 years)
This unique combination of traditional academic training and alternative healing approaches has shaped my distinctive process for helping clients tap into their inner wisdom.
Why I Do This Work
I believe we all possess inherent wisdom about what we need to move forward in life. However, that wisdom often becomes obscured by busy lives, temporary challenges, or reaching goals that weren't as fulfilling as expected.
Sometimes we need someone who isn't caught within our thinking patterns to ask the right questions, create a safe space for exploration, and help us see through the fog of illusion. That's where I come in.
My mission is to empower you to live your ridiculously amazing life by guiding you on the most powerful journey of self-discovery. When you shine brighter in the world, we all benefit.
I work virtually with clients across the country from my personal sanctuary in Delaware.
My Personal Side
Beyond my work as the Savvy Sage, I'm a lifelong learner who loves a good mystery novel (Thomas Perry's Jane Whitefield series is a favorite). I find joy in baking bread from scratch—there's something magical about watching simple ingredients transform through the process, much like the transformations I witness in my clients.
I've navigated my own share of life's challenges, including two house fires, which taught me valuable lessons about resilience and starting fresh. These experiences have deepened my empathy and understanding of the human journey.
One of my most transformative experiences came in 1998, after my first house fire, when I discovered a flyer advertising Tai Chi classes near my home. That chance encounter led me to an incredible teacher, and I've been studying martial arts with my Sensei for over 20 years. This practice has taught me so much about persistence and perseverance. And yes, I can break a board with my bare hands!
certifications and credentials
After earning a Masters degree in Psychology with a concentration in Community Clinical Psychology, I completed the coursework and comprehensives for my PHD in Human Development. Through those academic programs, I developed insight in how humans develop over a lifetime and in research. Add to those academic accomplishments the opportunities for professional growth and development over 30 years of work within the fields of counseling, rehabilitation, and education in client work across the age span and within administration and staff training and program development. Alongside the more traditional academic and professional development training, I have trained in more nontraditional healing modalities from Energy Healing modalities, including my certifications in Reiki I, II, and III in 2004. I completed Certification at the master level in Neurolinguistic Programming, Eriksonian Hypnosis, and Coaching from 1999- 2005. All of those learnings were interwoven with my practice. Over the years I have had the opportunity to participate in trainings with a wide variety of healers, mystics, psychics and mediums and have continued my studies in a variety of areas through the Association of Research and Enlightenment also known as the Edgar Cayce Institute. I am fortunate to bring both a grounded academic background and a broad metaphysical practice together to serve my clients.
